Do I need a driver's license BE for my trailer?
Category B (from 18 years of age)
Category B + code 96 (from 18 years of age)
Category BE (from 18 years of age)
Those who obtained their B+E driving license BEFORE May 1, 2013 have no limitation to 3,500 kg regarding the MTM of the trailer. This in the context of acquired rights. Only those who obtained their B+E driving license after May 1, 2013, should have a C1+E driving license for a combination of a tractor vehicle category B and a trailer with a MTM of more than 3,500 kg.
Regarding trailer registration, for a trailer with an M.T.M. (maximum authorized mass) of up to 750kg, you only need to attach a reproduction of the license plate of the towing vehicle at the back. For the registration of a trailer with an M.T.M. of more than 750kg, you must request your own license plate.
